India is my country.It is the seventh largest country in the world.It has 28 states and almost 500 distrcts.There are 16 recognised religious languages in India. India has got many religions such as Hindus, Christians, Muslims,Sikhs and Budhists.India is the second most populous country in the world and the first one is China. President of India is Prathibha Patil and Primeminister is Dr Manmohan Singh. India’s captal is New Delhi. The other important cities in India are Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkatta and Bangalore.There are three important rivers in India Ganga, Brahmaputra and Bharathapuzha.India’s national flower is lotus,national bird is peacock and national animal is tiger. India’s national anthem is Jana Gana Mana.There are three important seas surrounding India-Indian Ocean in the South,Bay of Bengal in the East and Arabian Sea in the west.In the north Himalayas are there.India got independence on August 15 th 1947,Mahathma Gandhi is the father of our nation who brought independence to India.
